Lead Software Engineer - Mobile

Zoosk is looking to add a Lead Software Engineer who is passionate about building smart and engaging mobile applications to join our crew in San Francisco. We're looking for someone with plenty of experience in mobile web development and familiarity with newer mobile platforms such as iPhone and Android. You will be responsible for leading the mobile development team and will be working with architects, designers, and product managers to define the mobile vision of the fastest growing dating destination.

Responsibilities

  • Architect, design, and develop mobile applications on multiple platforms
  • Work with Zoosk core team to translate the latest features to mobile apps
  • Develop mobile-only features and integrate them into "the Zoosk experience"
  • Mentor and manage mobile team developers

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in delivering robust large-scale mobile web applications
  • Excellent understanding of Object Oriented design, coding and testing patterns
  • Knowledge of best practices in delivering workclass mobile applications
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies and/or frameworks is a must

Frontend Software Engineer

Zoosk is looking to add a Software Engineer who is passionate about working on the latest web technologies to join our crew in San Francisco. We're looking for someone who can bend uncooperative browsers to their will using only a toothpick, some chewing gum, and a well-placed "position: relative"! Our ideal candidate would finish features that win usability awards from "real end users" and would still want to improve the experience. We are looking for web developers eager to tackle the challenges of a rapidly-growing web application with millions of daily page views. As part of our front-end development team, you'll collaborate with designers, engineers, and product managers to launch new products, fine-tune existing features, and build a world-class user experience. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, hungry to learn new skills and technologies, and able to handle multiple projects with ease.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate on defining clear requirements, deliverables, and milestones for new projects
  • Design, test, develop, and deploy production-ready applications using LAMP stack and Client-side code
  • Understand how users interact with your features through extensive use of analytics and continuously improve user experience

Qualifications

  • Solid understanding of Object Oriented design, coding and testing patterns
  • Exceptional HTML/XHTML and CSS, and "mad" JavaScript skills
  • Experience with Model/View/Controller frameworks (Cake, Rails, Spring, or your own)
  • Experience integrating frontend code with server-side technology on a large-scale, dynamic website
  • Knowledge of current trends and best practices in frontend architecture

Senior Software Engineer in Test

Zoosk is looking to add a Senior Software Engineer in Test who is passionate about quality and has excellent test automation experience to join our crew in San Francisco. We're looking for someone with plenty of knowledge of QA methodology, testing techniques and approaches. You will be responsible for architecting our QA environment from ground up, own the testing of multiple functionality areas of Zoosk online properties and off-site tools from the definition of test plans to their implementation, reporting and automation of the testing.

Responsibilities

  • Create a test automation infrastructure and design the product-wide test methodology
  • Create and maintain well-written test plans, test specifications and test reports
  • Design, develop and maintain test cases using PHPUnit or similar framework
  • Execute some manual testing but focus on test automation
  • Mentor and work with QA manual testers who will execute manually your test plans
  • Work with developers to instill a strong unit-testing culture

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of enterprise testing experience, ideally testing web applications
  • Experience with whitebox and blackbox testing
  • Experience with GUI automation tools (such as Selenium)
  • Proficient in common scripting languages (such as Perl, PHP, Shell, Ruby)
  • Experience with web load testing and stress testing methodology and tools
  • Experience with Linux, Apache, MySQL is preferred

We're looking for someone with plenty of experience in delivering robust large-scale online applications using relational databases. You will be responsible for expanding and scaling the existing data layer plus architecting for future features from conceptual design phase to the implementation and scaling it to millions of users. If building systems that can scale horizontally, deploying to massive cloud clusters, or optimizing execution times down to milliseconds gets your blood boiling, this is the position for you.

Responsibilities

  • Conceptually design systems that are built from ground up to "scale"
  • Architect, design, and develop database schema and the corresponding data-layer logic
  • Develop Object Oriented libraries that give web developers optimal access to the data layer
  • Measure, benchmark, and optimize existing/new data architecture to improve performance
  • Mentor and work with web developers to take full advantage of your "smart" db design
  • Create and contribute to open source projects while you work on high traffic and scalability problems at Zoosk

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in delivering robust large-scale online applications
  • Intimate knowledge of relational database concepts and patterns
  • Excellent knowledge of SQL query design and optimization
