\nFind something with a social aspect. Group park clean-ups, or serving in kitchens give you a chance to do work communally, and many volunteer groups offer happy hour gatherings afterward. \nJoin a gym that offers group classes like yoga, zumba, or kick boxing. You\u2019ll often see the same faces one or more times a week, and there\u2019s a certain bond that forms when sweaty people dance poorly together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\nThis may sound like too stuffy or quiet of an activity to actually meet people, but many museums offer great events like film screenings, lectures, and after dark nights, in which they serve alcohol and have some kind of entertainment. \nIf you\u2019re able to get to work on a public transit line, check it out. Chances are there will be a lot of other young professionals along your route, and you may begin to see the same faces regularly. A 30 minute bus ride is a great opportunity to chat about the latest book you\u2019re reading or things going on in the city over the weekend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\nOkay, duh, right? But don\u2019t settle for any sports bar. Find one that reps your hometown team. If you\u2019re a Bears fan who has moved to New York, chances are there\u2019s a good ol\u2019 Chicago bar somewhere that will show their games. And you\u2019ll automatically have something in common with everyone there on game day. It\u2019s a great sense of community when you\u2019re missing home, and you get to swap relocation stories while you cheer on your favorite team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
