Sometimes the most profound wisdom comes from the most unexpected places. Like, for example, the diary I once kept as a teenager. Between tear-stained pages and top ten lists of my favorite celebrities and TV shows (Sandra Bullock! Friends<\/em>!) were some poignant and sage advice that only a 15-year-old can really deliver. To help you all out I decided to share some of the more thoughtful dating tips. Enjoy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s OK to be both feminist AND old-fashioned romantic.
\n<\/strong>I know I see myself as a feminist and independent woman, but there are occasions when I just want a guy. None of this teenaged puppy love crap, but true romance. Maybe I\u2019m way older than my years, but I want to be swept off my feet. I don\u2019t think there\u2019s anything wrong with this either!<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

What\u2019s Wrong With Being Confident?
\n<\/strong>On Monday I\u2019m getting my hair cut and highlighted and I am just going to wow him and he\u2019s going to want to go out with me, no question. He\u2019s going to be BEGGING to go out with me. I am going to be so confident and gorgeous (as always).<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Take Advantage of Each Opportunity
\n<\/strong>There was a chance to talk to him tonight and I completely blew it. I\u2019m, to say the least, disappointed in myself. I\u2019ve banged my head against the wall so many times, it\u2019s amazing I don\u2019t have brain damage. I regret everything I didn\u2019t do tonight. Now I\u2019m more determined than ever to meet up with him again and tell him how I feel. After all, you only get one shot at life so I might as well use it. I don\u2019t want any regrets.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

You Gotta Feel Allll Your Feelings
\n<\/strong>I\u2019m crying because what I have left of him are strictly memories. I\u2019m crying because we never got a real chance. I\u2019m crying because I hope he doesn\u2019t screw up the rest of his life. I care about him. He was once a stranger in my life, and now he\u2019s become almost a part of me. I\u2019ve been praying for him. You don\u2019t do that for people who don\u2019t mean anything to you. I know this was meant to be, though. Everything is. I\u2019m not done crying, and I will miss him, but I am oddly at peace.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

If He Wants You, He\u2019ll Make it Happen
\n<\/strong>He was looking at me on countless occasions. AND he took my hand. I know he\u2019s into it. My friends say the same thing. It\u2019s almost obvious. So if he\u2019s interested, then why won\u2019t he make a real move for crying out loud? Whatever happened to chivalry? I refuse to believe it\u2019s dead. If a guy wants me, he\u2019ll make it happen.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Know What You Want and Don\u2019t Settle For Less
\n<\/strong>He gave me his phone number to stay in touch but made it clear that it\u2019s only as \u201cfriends.\u201d Thanks for the number, pal, but I\u2019m not going to use it. I\u2019m not calling him out of my dignity and self-respect. I\u2019m not in it for a friendship and I won\u2019t settle for less than what I want.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Self-Awareness and Doing YOU Is Key
\n<\/strong>Oh my god I skimmed through the earlier entries of this diary and I am so embarrassed! I can\u2019t believe how immature I was about my love life. Here I was saying how much I wanted to be pursued, and I was chasing two guys! UGH. This year will be different. I will only bother with guys who are 100% interested in me and who want to make it happen with me, not the other way around. Other than that, I\u2019m going to focus on what makes me happy.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Believe in Love
\n<\/strong>I don\u2019t want this \u201changing out\u201d crap but some honest, old-fashioned dating and real love. I know I might be asking a lot for a 15-year-old, considering males mature slower than us, but I believe I\u2019ll find what I\u2019m looking for. It\u2019s just when that’s the problem. Frustrated?
