Merriam-Webster\u2019s Dictionary defines \u201cchivalry\u201d as \u201cthe qualities of the ideal knight\u201d and offers this example sentence: \u201cChivalry demanded of him that he be conspicuous through his gallant, courteous, and generous behavior.\u201d Sure, Medieval knighthood is a thing of the past. But you should still be gallant, courteous, and generous with your behavior. In other words, be a gentleman. That\u2019s what chivalry means in 2018: respecting a woman\u2019s strength and independence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let\u2019s turn classic ideas of love and romance into modern ones, shall we? Here\u2019s how you can make women feel special and show them that chivalry isn’t dead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. Make an effort to look sharp when you see her.
\n<\/strong>When you make an effort with your appearance, it shows that you\u2019re making an effort to impress her. Spend some time on your hair, appearance, and outfit. You don\u2019t have to go overboard, but if you do some basic grooming, she\u2019ll definitely notice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. Listen to her.
\n<\/strong>Listen to what she writes in her texts and says on your dates. Show an interest in her perspective. Absorb the information, retain it, and recall it later. When you make a conscious effort to be present in the moment\u2014and don\u2019t just wait for her to finish talking so you can speak\u2014it makes all the difference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. Be a feminist.
\n<\/strong>Please don\u2019t wear a shirt that says \u201cMale Feminist\u201d or brag about how much you respect women. Just practice it. Not for brownie points or to get a story out of it, but because you respect women and believe they should be equal to men.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4. Don\u2019t be creepy.
\n<\/strong>Women encounter creepy guys on a daily basis. They send women indecent messages, troll them on social media, and catcall them on the street. Women are sick of creepy guys and won\u2019t hesitate to write them off immediately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

5. Practice good old-fashioned chivalry.
\n<\/strong>Hold the door open for her, pull out her chair, and walk on the car side of the street. Pay her compliments and use small gestures to show that you care. Women associate these behaviors with good old-fashioned chivalry. Believe it or not, many men don\u2019t do these little things anymore. So if you do, it\u2019ll be sure to wow her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
