But it\u2019s no different than saying you like a certain sports team or food. The right people for you are going to like you and the wrong ones aren\u2019t. Making people believe that you\u2019re looking for one thing when it\u2019s the complete opposite is just as bad as having profile pictures from 10 years ago. Nobody wants to be misled.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So here are some dating profile tips you should use if you\u2019re not looking for something serious.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><b>Be upfront and honest.<br>\n<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Let\u2019s start with the most obvious tip. But it\u2019s important to use language that\u2019s universally understood so you end up matching with people who want the same thing you do. For instance, you may want to include phrases like, \u201cno strings attached,\u201d \u201cjust looking to have fun,\u201d \u201cnot looking for anything serious,\u201d or \u201cnot looking for commitment\u201d in your profile.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><b>Drop hints about your lifestyle.<br>\n<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Being clear and upfront is the best way to go. But you can also add details about your life that help to drive the point home. For example, \u201cNew in town. Looking to meet new people,\u201d or \u201cI\u2019m always traveling. I never stay in one place for too long.\u201d&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThat will usually come across as someone who wants to have some fun at the moment,\u201d Jackie Bencivenga, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">psychotherapist at <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/mytherapist.nyc\/tzlil\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">MyTherapist New York<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, says. \u201c<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nobody likes to be misled. Coming off honest from the beginning is a smart idea, especially in the online world where things are very easily misinterpreted.\u201d&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><b>Keep your profile light.<br>\n<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cIf you\u2019re just looking for something fun, don&#8217;t try to impress people with how deep and introspective you are,\u201d Eric Resnick, professional dating profile writer at <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.profilehelper.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ProfileHelper<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, tells The Date Mix. While that may be the case, it may come off as if you\u2019re looking for something a little more serious. Instead, try aiming for fun, goofy, or spontaneous.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><b>Avoid using \u201cserious\u201d photos.<br>\n<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Even if you\u2019re just looking for something casual, you still want to pick photos that will make people want to match with you.<\/span><b> <\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><b>\u201c<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This is not the place for \u2018the pensive shot\u2019 or over-dressed professional photos,\u201d Resnick says. \u201cStick with candids that show you happy, relaxed, and in your natural setting.\u201d&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><b>Focus on apps that attract more casual daters.<br>\n<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There are tons of different dating platforms out there, and you\u2019ll get a good mix of people looking for fun and a relationship. But to maximize your chances of meeting someone who wants the same thing you do, avoid apps that are geared towards more serious daters.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cIf you\u2019re looking for something less serious, you want to avoid some of the bigger, more traditional <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">dating<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> apps like Match, Zoosk, and eHarmony,\u201d Resnick says. Instead focus on apps like Tinder, Bumble, OkCupid, and Plenty of Fish.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If an app has the option to filter what you\u2019re looking for, then make sure to utilize this. Checking off \u201csomething casual\u201d can make it easier for you to find someone who\u2019s also just looking for something fun.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dating apps can be a great way to meet all sorts of people looking for all sorts of relationships, but they only work well if you&#8217;re honest about what you want. There are plenty of people out there, men and woman, looking for something less serious.
