Star Sign Compatibility: Who The Stars Say You Should Be Dating

zodiac signs for star sign compatibility

There’s a lot that goes into deciding whether you and that cutie you met for coffee last week are truly compatible. Do you both have the same long-term goals and share the same values? Do you both have similar sleep schedules? Do you both love dogs and hate camping?

Whether you’ve got the Co-Star app on your phone or barely know Capricorns from Cancers, there’s something about star signs that can tell you a lot about if you and your latest crush are gonna work out or fall flat.

Here’s a crash course on star sign compatibility and who your best match might be.

Aries: Aquarius, Sagittarius, Leo

A naturally fiery Aries loves trying new things and tends to get bored easily, which makes them have high star sign compatibility with an Aquarius. Both signs are always down to try something new, whether skydiving or a kinky new sex position. While both signs love doing things together, they also know the importance of having their own lives outside of the relationship.

Aries also makes a hot (pun intended) match with a Sagittarius, another fire sign who also loves their independence.

Lastly, Leo and Aries can make a pretty pair due to them both constantly pushing themselves to be the best while majorly valuing their individuality and alone time. Water or earth signs are not the best matches for an Aries, as an Aries will likely be too spontaneous, impulsive, and individualistic to meet their partner’s needs.

Taurus: Cancer, Virgo, Capricorn, and Pisces

Known to be simple, sensual, and in love with their routine, a Taurus can find a harmonious pairing with water signs Cancer and Pisces.

The earth and water sign combination can result in an “opposites attract” type scenario where both partners appreciate what the other brings to the table. A Taurus can also find an easy, breezy coupling with hard-working and organized Virgos and Capricorns. Both signs will understand Taurus’ love of their routine and apprehension at anything too adventurous or spontaneous.

Instead, this couple will find joy in cuddling up with a good book and having a sensual evening together in bed. A Taurus may not find the same simplicity with a stubborn Leo or an adrenaline-junkie Aquarius.

Gemini: Libra, Aquarius, and Sagittarius

Geminis get along best with fellow air signs Libra and Aquarius, as these couples will understand each other’s need for constant stimulation and won’t get offended by occasional flightiness or flakiness.

For a truly passionate (although potentially short-lived) connection, Sagittarius matches with Gemini for an opposing, but incredibly creative power couple. Geminis may want to avoid Virgos and Pisces, as both signs can misinterpret Gemini’s unreliability as disinterest or disrespect.

Cancer:  Scorpio, Pisces, Capricorn

Sensitive Cancers have high star sign compatibility with fellow water signs Scorpio and Pisces. These signs will understand a Cancer’s sensitivity and need to establish trust slowly before opening up.

Super sexual Scorpios in particular can help tap into a Cancer’s secret kinky side, while a Pisces will immediately understand a Cancer’s emotions and help diffuse conflicts easily. Another long-term partnership that works well is a Cancer and Capricorn coupling, as both signs enjoy creating a home where they both feel safe and cozy.

Leo: Aries, Gemini, Libra, and Sagittarius

Braggadocious Leos may get a bad rep, but air signs Gemini and Libra are able to placate a Leo’s need for attention and validation. Fellow fire signs Aries and Sagittarius also mesh well with Leos and appreciate Leo’s unwavering loyalty rather than chastising them for their big ego.

On the other hand, a stubborn Scorpio or Taurus may try to chip away at a Leo’s big ego, which can lead to a constantly-at-odds coupling.

Virgo: Taurus, Scorpio, Pisces, and Capricorn

Grounded and practical Virgos get along well with other earth signs Capricorn and Taurus to build a long-lasting, solid foundation of love. When paired with water signs, a Virgo may also flourish.

A Scorpio will mirror a Virgo’s obsession with lists and order for a major power couple move, while a Pisces can provide the emotional labor to perfectly compliment the manual labor a Virgo typically brings to the table. A spontaneous Sag or Gemini, on the other hand, will likely get annoyed or bored with a Virgo’s reliance on the rational.

Libra: Gemini, Leo, and Aquarius

A Libra loves some good banter, and a Gemini can match their equally quick-witted and loquacious tendencies. Fellow air-sign Aquarius also offers great mental stimulation to keep up with Libra’s chattiness.

Libra and Leo can also work well as they both fulfill each other’s need to be adored and an obsession with the finer things in life. Star sign compatibility is not great for a Libra and Capricorn, as this practical sign may not seem ‘fun’ enough to a Libra.

Scorpio: Cancer, Virgo, Capricorn, and Pisces

Scorpios take love seriously. This sign needs a partner that shows their loyalty in order for the intense Scorpio to unlock their hidden emotional side, and fellow water signs Cancer and Pisces can help do just that.

Practical Virgos understand a Scorpio’s need for order and organization, while Capricorns mirror Scorpio’s lust for power (and lust in the bedroom as well). Scorpio may not get on so well with spontaneous Aquarians and are almost too similar to Leos, which can lead to stagnation.

Sagittarius: Leo, Aries, Aquarius, and Libra

While Sag’s can be perceived as players, this high-sex-drive sign has high star sign compatibility with other fire signs that share these traits: Leo and Aries.

Air signs also fare well with Sagittarius, as both Libras and Aquarians will be down for last minute adventures and flirtations. Unsurprisingly, routine-loving Virgos are not always the best match for a Sag.

Capricorn: Pisces, Scorpio, Virgo, and Taurus

Blunt and business-minded Capricorns get along well with equally power-hungry and sassy Scorpios, while Pisces can help a Cap bring out their more sensitive side. Fellow earth signs Virgo and Taurus are also great matches for a Capricorn, as they will understand a Capricorn’s hardworking nature.

Taurus and Capricorns in particular are known to have endless adoration when paired. On the other hand, Libras will likely get annoyed or bored with Capricorn’s rigid life structure.

Aquarius: Aries, Gemini, Libra, and Sagittarius

Aquarians love two things: their freedom and their thirst for adventure. Geminis mirror this lust for life and typically have a stellar connection with Aquarians, sometimes feeling like they’ve known each other forever simply because they’re so similar.

Fellow air sign Libras also do well with Geminis and will have great conversations together over only the best wine. Aquarians can also find fun flirtations in an Aries or Sagittarius, as both signs also value novelty and spontaneity.

Pisces: Aries, Gemini, Libra, and Sagittarius

Deeply emotional and sometimes sensitive Pisces does well with fellow water signs who understand their moodiness. Both Scorpios and Cancers can provide a grounding element to a watery Pisces and can quickly pick up on their nonverbal cues and communications.

Scorpios in particular will feel comfortable being the romantic, almost cheesy-partner they’ve always wanted to be with a Pisces. Earth signs Capricorn and Taurus can also work as opposing partners to help ground a dreamy Pisces. On the other hand, Geminis are likely not nurturing or reassuring enough for a Pisces, who can take their flightiness personally.

So if you’re wondering about you and your new cutie’s star sign compatibility, be sure to find out their birthday and see if your stars align. But remember, love can sometimes surprise you!
