6 Couples Vacation Spots You Probably Haven’t Thought Of

This couple in a hammock cheersing each other found great couples vacation spots on their trip.

Whether you’re looking for the perfect honeymoon location, an epic vacation spot or a new place to explore with your sweetheart, pick a lesser-known destination. Not only will a unique location be less crowded, you’ll also get the chance to explore an unfamiliar place and experience new adventures with the person you love.

As you plan your next romantic getaway, forget about Mexico or Florida and consider these six unique couples vacation spots.

Queenstown, New Zealand
Standout feature: You’ll be outside exploring every single day.

Queenstown is located between steep mountains and a crystal, clear lake. In addition to the breathtaking views, you and your sweetie can enjoy delicious food and plenty of outdoor adventures. Hike up to Bob’s Peak via the Tiki trail, a 45- to 60-minute hike, or take the Gondola and enjoy a scenic ride to the top.

Once you get to the peak, relax and enjoy the view, or for the adrenaline junkies out there: hop in a luge cart (don’t worry it doesn’t go all the way to the bottom) or go bungee jumping. When the sun goes down enjoy a romantic stargazing tour that neither of you will ever forget.

Quebec, Canada
Standout feature: Quaint feel with big city activities.

Quebec is both old and new—like Europe, minus the long flight. Not to mention, there’s more to do there than you can fit in a week, so if you like to stay busy, this is the vacation spot for you. Try your luck and catch a show at one of Quebec’s four casinos or hit the slopes of Mont-Tremblant in the Winter. During a summer vacation, get to know Quebec on bike, kayak or canoe.

There are also 24 national parks for you to explore along with a number of museums where you can learn more about their Canadian culture. If you want to relax and spend quality time with your significant other, splurge on a night at a luxurious hotel like the famous, castle-like Fairmont Le Château Frontenac.

Cape Town, South Africa
Standout feature: Never-ending scenery wherever you go.

Cape Town is rated one of the top 10 cities in the world, and it’s also a fantastic destination for vacationing couples. Whether you want to see the sights or relax on the beach, Cape Town has something for everyone.

Spend your first night watching the sunset at Bantry Bay, where you’ll enjoy uninterrupted views of giant boulders leading into the sea and watch the sun sink into the Atlantic Ocean after a long day. Don’t forget to check out City Bay for shopping Camps Bay or Clifton for laying on the beach.

Carefree, Arizona
Standout feature: Unique town with undeniable Southwestern charm.

If you’d prefer to stay stateside for your next romantic getaway, head to Carefree, Arizona, a secluded spot in the Sonoran Desert. Kick back and relax in beautiful weather while you enjoy the lush, scenic landscape. You can go rock climbing, horseback riding and mountain biking during the day and enjoy an afternoon at the spa. Spend your evenings on Easy Stret (literally), checking out the boutiques and attractions.

Greenland
Standout feature: Remote location for a true romantic getaway.

If you don’t mind the cold (80 percent of the land is covered in ice), Greenland is the perfect spot to get cozy, snuggle up with your sweetie, and experience a once-in-a-lifetime adventure.

Get a clear, pollution-free view of the Northern Lights, go skiing, dogsledding or snowmobiling, or head to the coast to go whale watching and kayaking. While you’re there, take a guided sightseeing tour to learn more about the culture and people of Greenland.

Austin, Texas
Standout feature: You’ll be exploring from sunup to sundown.

If you want to enjoy food, music and a lively nightlife, Austin is the perfect place for you. Enjoy true Texas BBQ, check out the live music scene at a bar or music hall on Sixth Street, explore the museums at Ziller Park, or take a dip in the Barton Springs Pool.

You’ll never have to worry about running out of the things to do and if you need some romantic activities to add to your itinerary, go on a cruise around the lake or catch a show at One World Theater.

Check out one of these unique destinations for your next couples vacation. You’ll lost track of time exploring a new place with the love of your life and make unforgettable memories to last a lifetime.
