Mother’s Day is coming up this weekend and whether you’re rushing to find the perfect gift, arranging to have flowers delivered, or setting up a nice Sunday brunch, moms are on the mind. In order to help out the single moms looking for a relationship, we teamed up with the online dating site Zoosk to learn how being a mom affects women’s dating lives. After looking into the data, we found a few single mom dating tips to help moms be successful when dating online.

Having kids isn’t a stigma when dating online.
Zoosk found that women with kids get 13% more messages than those without children, and that they also engaged in 55% more deep conversations. With so many single parents going online to find someone, having kids is no longer a big deal or something you have to wait to reveal until later.

Make your profile about you.
Even though being a single parent doesn’t affect online daters negatively, when creating your profile it can. In another study, Zoosk found that profiles with mentions of son, daughter, teenager, children, or single mom got 4% less messages than the average. So what’s the single mom dating tip? Your profile is your opportunity to talk about yourself! Help people get to know you independent of your relationship to your kids by focusing on what makes you unique, your hobbies, and the things you enjoy.

Don’t be afraid to talk about your kids.
Your profile is one thing, but chatting is another. Women who mention kids, son, or daughter in a message have a response rate 6% higher than the average. Your kids are a big part of  your life and people who are interested in you are naturally going to be interested about who and what’s important to you. So chat away! Feel free to brag a bit. As you’re getting to know someone it’s important to let the conversation flow naturally. And when you’re a single parent, it can naturally flows towards your kids.

So what do all these single mom dating tips tell us about dating with kids? When it comes to looking for someone online, being a single parent can actually give you an advantage. So this Mother’s Day as you take some time to think about yourself, think about finding someone who will cherish you just as much as your kids do. Because moms deserve all the love in the world.
