Smart Love: This week at a charity gala, George Clooney proved that he didn’t marry wife, Amal, just for her stunning looks. The actor appeared solo at the SeriousFun Children’s Network’s New York Gala. As Clooney took to the stage to recall how many countries the charity has helped over the years, he made a small error in his calculations: “Since 1988, these camps have (helped) over a half million sick kids and their families from over five hun… – over 50 countries – five hundred countries would be too many. There aren’t actually that many.” Then, Clooney quickly added, “My wife’s the smart one!” Earlier in the evening, Clooney praised his wife and their married life. “I’m very happy. It’s exciting,” he told Extra. “I really love my wife, I’m having a great time and I’m very proud of her. I couldn’t be more proud of the things she does.” And to think he was the world’s most eligible bachelor for…how long?
No Bad Blood: Lady Gaga and Taylor Swift proved this week on Twitter that female celebs can support and encourage each other — even when it comes to love. Swift, who recently told The Telegraph that she believes she’ll be single at 30, tweeted out: “Is it just me or is Lady Gaga, like, fully LIVING right now?!? #goals.” Though she didn’t reference anything specific, we’re pretty sure she was referencing Gaga’s recent engagement to Gaga’s own Taylor…Kinney, her fiance. Gaga went, well, gaga over the endorsement and tweeted Swift back: “@taylorswift13 wow you’re a sweetheart! Life is friends, family, and love! We all see that in you, your prince charming will come!” We think so, too.
Be My Bae: Newlyweds Benji Madden and Cameron Diaz are still rocking the honeymoon phase — despite being thousands of miles apart. Madden is currently in Australia shooting The Voice Australia, while new his wife stays stateside. In an apparent sign of missing his love, Madden shared a cute photograph of him and a puppy he’d come across Down Under via Instagram.”Rule #1 When you’re away from home working and you meet a puppy, always take pics to send to Bae,” he captioned the shot, adding a heart and puppy emoji on the end of this message. The pic comes just one week after Madden gave a more permanent shout-out to Diaz: He recently got a tattoo of her name emblazoned across his chest. Talk about a love that’s meant to last.
Baby Makes Three: Carrie Underwood welcomed her first child, a son, with hockey player husband, Mike Fisher. The former American Idol champ announced the good news via Facebook. “Tiny hands and tiny feet … God has blessed us with an amazing gift! Isaiah Michael Fisher — born February 27,” the first-time mom captioned the sneak peek of her new baby. Though Underwood has further remained mum (no pun intended!) about the birth, new dad Fisher told reporters at his game last weekend: “We were excited; there’s nothing better than being a dad. Obviously, the important thing is everyone is feeling good and mom’s feeling good. We’re definitely blessed to have him join us in our lives. There’s no better feeling.” We wonder which lullabies Carrie will sing to the little guy.
BFFs: Pals Dax Shepard and Jason Bateman proved how vital friendships can be when it comes to settling down. “Jason was first to go, ‘Stop [messing] around and marry Kristen,” Shepard told People Magazine, referring, of course, to his wife, actress Kristen Bell. And apparently Bateman’s advice didn’t stop at the altar, either. Shepard credits Bateman with making him a dad, too. “You immediately transitioned into ‘Get her pregnant,’” Shepard continued while standing next to his friend. “I would say you were at the very forefront of cracking the whip on that. And you were dead right.” Shepard and Bell are proud parents to daughters, Lincoln, 2, and Delta, 10 weeks. The pair just proves that the opinions of friends shouldn’t be discounted when it comes to love! (At least, not all the time).
